Discover Beijing's Tastiest Collabs: McD's & VERDY, and More

Irene Li theBeijinger 2024-01-07

If you're a foodie residing in Beijing, you've likely been keeping track of all the collaborations happening around town. The city has a knack for creative partnerships, like the intriguing Maotai & Luckin latte blend. To keep you in the loop, here are some recent collabs that are causing quite a stir.

McD

VERDY

McDonald's is no stranger to surprising us with their dynamic collaborations. They recently teamed up with Crocs, of all things, and released some irresistibly adorable, fluffy Crocs-themed shoes that sold out in a flash!

Now, they've partnered up with streetwear brand VERDY, taking cues from the theme 'Best Friends Forever'. The main design features VERDY's beloved dog mascot Vick, caught sharing a moment with his new pals, the iconic Hamburglar and Speedee from McDonald's. Plus, if you order their signature chicken sandwich, you'll be treated to some fun themed packaging. How cool is that?

Liubiju

Chatailiangpin

Imagine a fusion between 六必居 Liubiju, a traditional Beijing brand known for its sauces, and 茶太良品 Chá Tái Liángpǐn, a popular milk tea store. The result? An er'bajiang flavored milk tea! If you're not familiar with er'bajiang, it's a delightful blend of sesame paste and peanut butter, a cherished childhood snack for many Beijingers. The packaging even resembles a sauce jar! Reviewers on Dianping are raving about its creamy, sweet, and savory flavor that delivers a rich peanut butter taste. A perfect treat for those with a sweet tooth!

Oreo

NAIXUE

NAIXUE is at it again, pushing the boundaries of creativity with their eclectic collabs. This time around, they're serving up a twist – a milk tea infused with the unmistakable flavor of Oreo cookies. Just one look at the cup packaging and you'll be itching to try it.

The characters on the cup read 扭一扭 舔一舔 旋一旋 niǔ yī niǔ tiǎn yī tiǎn xuán yī xuán (twist this, lick this, and turn it around), a nostalgic nod to a classic Oreo commercial from our childhood that every Beijinger remembers. It's the Oreo eating instruction manual we didn't know we needed until now.

We've indulged in frozen yogurt sprinkled with crumbled Oreo cookies before, but Oreo cookie infused milk tea is a new adventure. The word on the street is that it's super smooth and definitely worth a try.

Maotai

Jay Chou

Just when we thought Maotai couldn't surprise us anymore, they've joined forces with none other than Jay Chou, launching their MOJT series cocktails. If you're not familiar with Jay Chou, he's a Chinese pop sensation with a hit track featuring the line 麻烦给我爱人来一杯MOJITO máfan gěi wǒ àirén lái yībēi MOJITO (Please give my lover a glass of Mojito).

The cocktails are a delightful mix of local Guizhou fruits, with flavors like spicy berry and blueberry drawing inspiration from classic cocktails like Bloody Mary, Whiskey Sour, and Singapore Sling. This is Maotai and Jay Chou redefining cocktail culture, one sip at a time.
